Our premium matcha tea is authentic stone-ground “Tencha” leaves which is a true matcha. Tencha is shaded from sunlight 3-4 weeks before harvest which produces the bright green color of matcha that is filled with “umami” flavor from the rich amino acids contained in the green tea leaves. Many “matcha” found on the market is actually ground “Sencha” & not a true matcha powder. Sencha is not shaded & is made from ground stems & buds which leaves it dull in color & bitter in taste.

What is Matcha?
Matcha is the heart of the Japanese way of tea and has been celebrated in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony for hundreds of years. Made from stone-ground, shaded green tea leaves it is one of the most powerful superfood you can find today.
What Does Matcha Taste Like?
It’s packed with “umami” (a Japanese term for elegant taste, savory deliciousness and also the fifth scientific taste, along with sweet, sour, salty and bitter). With its rich aroma that instantly makes you feel fresh, the initial vegetal/earthy taste is followed by mellow sweetness that lingers in the mouth comparable to a fine wine.
Does Matcha Have Caffeine?
Yes, matcha has about 30g to 35g of caffeine per serving. Matcha also contains L-Theanine which promotes relaxation and can enhance concentration and mood. Matcha drinkers experience none of the usual side-effects of stimulants such as nervousness and hypertension. It’s good, clean energy!

After intensive matcha sampling from across Japan, they decided to partner with a family farm in Uji – Kyoto and are proud to bring you the highest quality organic matcha.

Ceremonial or Culinary Grade?
Our superior culinary grade matcha is produced using a blend of 1st and 2nd harvest green tea leaves. It's more robust in flavor and has a stronger bitterness. Perfect for mixing with other ingredient in recipes such as lattes, juices, smoothies, baking and more.
Is produced once a year using only the 1st harvest of spring green tea leaves. Ceremonial grade has a bright emerald green color, is an ultra fine powder and rich in flavor with no bitterness. Ceremonial grade matcha is best enjoyed as a traditional tea by simply whisking it with hot water.

Our partner farm has been producing premium quality matcha in the Uji region of Kyoto Japan since 1958.
Uji is considered the green tea hub of japan and the birthplace of Japanese tea culture.
